Description / Expertise

A superb pair of marquetry inlaid demi-lune consoles attributed to the workshop of John Linnell. The tops are veneered in harewood with a trellis pattern having boxwood flowers. The frieze is inlaid with stylized stop fluting and rosettes, the edge with moulded lacquer brass banding. The four tapered legs are inlaid with classical pattern and are connected by stretchers having inlaid leaves, the underside fretted to create the tips of the leaves. The stretchers support a mahogany banded oval platform.
