Condition

Papers were cleaned and relined on linen canvas and mounted on stretchers. Presently in stable and good condition.


Provenance

Exceptional provenance: from the private collection of Jean Zuber for his home "La Commanderie" in Rixheim, Alsace. Jean Zuber was the founder at the end of the 18th century of the Zuber Manufacture and rival of his contemporary Jacquemart & Benard.

Description / Expertise

Designed by the painter Carle Vernet, the only scenic panoramique that he created, specially for Jacquemart & Bénard, 1812-15. This scenic wallpaper is considered to be the finest done on the Stag Hunt theme.
