Condition
Papers were cleaned and relined on linen canvas and mounted on a stretcher. Some missing elements in left-hand and bottom right portions of the scene, no in painting to fill these gaps but subtle grey painting suggests this loss. Present condition very good and stable.

Description / Expertise
One panel from the scenic Psyche & Cupid : “Psyche Bringing the Fountain of Youth to Venus”. Wood-block printed by Dufour in 1816, design by Laffitte & Blondel. Rare version of the first edition of 1816 in small joined papers (“papiers raboutés” technique). The quality of the engraving and richness of the grisaille tones are exceptionally fine.
