| NAADAA
Founded in 1954, NAADAA seeks to promote the best interests of the antique and art trade; to sponsor and organize antique and art exhibitions: and, to promote just, honorable and ethical trade practices. Many years of study and experience are necessary to acquire the specialized knowledge that has made NAADAA members recognized authorities in their various fields. Each member of the Association has earned a high reputation for integrity and fair dealing in all transactions, so that collectors can be confident that an antique or work of art is honestly represented as to authenticity, Provenance and condition. NAADAA members take pride in careful, personalized service they provide. Whether to acquire a single object, or to start or add to a collection, the Association cordially invites you to visit the shops and galleries listed in this Directory, and to make use of members' knowledge and experience. C.I.N.O.A. Membership NAADAA is a member of La Confederation Internationale des Negociants en Oeuvres d'art, an organization comprised of the leading art and antique dealer associations in thirteen countries. Under the auspices of C.I.N.O.A, an annual award of $10,000 is given for the publication of a new and important contribution in the field of art history. |
NAADAA Activities For more than 50 years, the association has presented exhibitions, and has sponsored a wide range of conferences and lectures concerning art and antiques for both specialists and general public. The Association cooperates in organizing the highly-acclaimed International Antique Dealers' Show, and was instrumental in establishing it as the first vetted show in New York City. Held at the Seventh Regiment Armory in October, the International Show is considered to be the foremost antiques and fine arts event in the United States. In 1989 and 1990, NAADAA sponsored the show's lecture program, a series of talks by distinguished museum curators, scholars and decorative arts specialists. In addition, individual NAADAA members participate in many prestigious national and international antique and art shows, and hold numerous exhibitions in their own establishments. Recognized for their scholarship and expertise, members of the Association contribute to or sponsor a variety of publications in their areas of specialization each year. In 1993 NAADAA awarded a substantial scholarship to the new Bard Graduate center for Studies in the Decorative Arts. This grant is indicative of our commitment to education and research.
